5G services scheduled to start in Pakistan by August 2024



Pakistan is gearing up to launch 5G mobile communications in August 2024 as people want faster and better telecom services.


The Ministry of Information and Communications has a plan in this regard. They will hire an international consultant to help with the project, create a committee to determine the future of 5G in Pakistan and set rules for auctioning 5G spectrum. They will look at what auction methods have worked in countries such as Bangladesh. It is important to note that they want the auction to be competitive so that it is fair and not awarded to just one company.


They want an improvement in the telecom sector ahead of the auction. They have to deal with ongoing litigation over spectrum allocation and encourage telecom companies to participate in auctions.


To improve the network, 5G will also facilitate opening of letters of credit (LC) and laying of fiber optic cables.
